Week Wrap Up

Last week was the final week of the regular season and almost every game had playoff implications. This is the week and the time of the year you can really see what a team is made of.

A few games this week really shocked me.

Public Enemy vs Eyes Downtown.  Publice Enemy was with out Big Paulie and were playing a tough Eyes Downtown team. I have seen public enemy struggle with this team before so with those 2 things in mind, I had an upset. As per usual, I was wrong. I have decided the only way to beat PE is to get the ball first score, get a stop, and score again. Then also turn them over once in the second half while scoring on everyone of your own drives. You cannot come from behind to beat them. They are the best front running team these eyes have ever seen in the TSL. If you get down early, the game is over just meet Chris Cole at the 50 and hand him the white flag. Public Enemy ends the season undefeated, Congrats. Now lets see if they can win the title.

RSS Ladies vs Mattys Angels. Oh RSS…….Oh RSS. All the prior days up to this week’s game you wanted Mattys Angels to go against what they have done all season and not play a male safety. Luckily, RSS girls and Rameer, Travis Clev$ had a conflicting game. Even so Mattys decided not to play a male safety to appease the peanut gallery. It was straight girl on girl just like RSS wanted. RSS and Taylor got it first and marched down the field and scored on 6-0. Matty walked on to the field and first play threw a length of the bomb for a TD and that’s how the game went.  It was RSS marching down the field and scoring on 5^th and 6^th down, while Mattys scored in the first 3 plays. The whole game was back and fourth. Mid way through the second half Matty threw a interception on the goal line, I thought this would be the turning point for RSS. They did not capitalize. It came down to the last 2 mins of the game. Matty dropped a dime in between the back safetys and one of his angels made an unreal sports center top 10 catch to put them in the lead with 30 seconds left. RSS had the ball and all their time outs but could not get it into the end zone. It is now clear who the superior girls team is. To me its chemistry and fun over talent. On paper RSS wins 10 out of 10 times but this is why we play the game. RSS has all the “talent” they have basically all D1 girls while Mattys is mostly D2 and D4 girls but somehow the Angels make Matty look great and have a blast doing it. Best game of the week.

Bullet Club vs Cobblestone.  This game makes me happy and sad. I think we, in the year of our lord 2017, have seen the crumbling, the crippling, the demise of one time juggernaut Cobblestone. They are done. Stick a fork in them. I don’t want to even talk about it anymore but on field play and wins and losses don’t lie. That was the sad, now for the happy. I think Jeff (QB for BC) is back !!!! He looked rough all season but down the home stretch he has come alive. I love when Jeff is slinging, Joe K is scheming, and Bullet Club is winning. But now they are running into the cocked side armed buzz saw which is Team Topper in the playoffs. That is a game I will for sure right on the sidelines for

Footballs Deep vs Mckenzies.  Footballs Deep. I don’t know you. BUT YOU STILL REALLY SUCK FOR NOT SHOWING UP ONE WEEK BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS. Show up with 3 guys and a girl and try to make a team, find kids on the street, send Topper an email and let him know you need people, play with 4 for all I care just don’t not show. BAD FORM. Even with the poor form from Footballs Deep, Mckenzies some how finds a way to make me like them more. They didn’t just pack it up and go home, or even go into the bar and drink. These animals lifted a picnic table out on to the 50 yard line of the field and had an internal team beer pong tournament! That is classic TSL right there people. Take Notes Well Done Mckenzies.  Well Done Indeed.

I know the godfather usually does all the picking for this league but I am going to give me quick pre play off predictions here. Not just for the first round no no but who is going to win for each division and why.

D1- Public Enemy. Reason: Chris Cole. Its his division others are just living in it. Its Public Enemy’s to lose.  

D2- Angry Buffalo. Reason: In the Chinese New Year 2017 is the year of the SOOCH! I really want to go with Tight ends for this division but for some reason my gut is telling me Angry Buffalo. Even with sub par girl play if Sooch is slinging and those big targets are chuncking up yardage for him, I think they will win it all.

D3- DMX. Reason: They have been playing well all season and I don’t see them stopping now. They are an overall great team. They play good O, good D and have a QB who can win them a close one. DMX for the title.

D4- Why So Serious. Reason: This team can flat out play and probably should have won D4 last year. They always seem to fall short in the play offs. A&A is a tempting pick as they are the retuning champs but I see Senior, Sam and Scott winning the title this year. Hopefully A&A and WSS meet in the finals and they both move up a division.

D5- The Bambs. Reason: Why freaking not????! . This savvy vet team has put it all together this year and are DESTINED to hold the gold. If I am pulling for any of my picks to be correct I hope and pray it is this one!

D6- My heart tells me Mattys Angels. My head tells me ACE. Reason: Let’s face it, no one likes ACE they are the bullies of D6.  But boy are they good and they aren’t just D6 good they could probably beat all the D5 teams on any given day. Mattys on the other hand is the league favorite. They are fun to watch and they have fun playing. They play at a blistering pace and I hope the can carry it into the playoffs and that game conflicts don’t crush them when they need players the most. FINAL ANSWER ACE WITH THE TITLE AT THE END OF THE SEASON THAT THEY SO DESERVE. NOW MOVE UP AND SHOW US WHAT YOU REALLY GOT!

It has been a pleasure watching all of you TSLers BALL out all season long. I hope the wife and the new born allow me to come back next season and continue writing!
